Our Approach

Learn about the four pillars we use to investigate causes of physiological inflammation.

HOW WE HELP

The “Synapse Approach”

The “Synapse Approach” is to find the root cause of physiological inflammation. Inflammation will cause a plethora of symptoms and it is the most important aspect of treatment to address inflammation. The four pillars used to investigate causes of physiological inflammation are listed below.

Neurological

Musculoskeletal

  Chemical

  Hormonal

Underneath each pillar of health is the diagnostic technology used to investigate that particular pillar. The “Synapse Approach” uses technology to identify causes numerically which allows the doctor and the patient track their progress visually over the treatment sessions.

Dr. Robert Waterson will create a Report Of Findings from the objective results of diagnostic testing. If Dr. Waterson believes you are a candidate for care the treatment phase will begin.

Neurological

Neurological trauma is mainly the result of a traumatic brain injury or concussion. Neuro trauma can cause neurological conditions like: brain fog, dizziness, headaches, light sensitivity, nausea, difficulty concentrating, anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, stomach pains, diarrhea, dysautonomia, and many other symptoms. The following diagnostic tools are used to test for neurological trauma.

Musculoskeletal

A dysfunction musculoskeletal system presents as orthopedic pain. Common cases of musculoskeletal pain include neck pain, mid back pain, low back pain, shoulder pain, hip pain, knee pain etc. These musculoskeletal pains persist causing physiological inflammation. It is important to address musculoskeletal pains because inflammation can exacerbate any undying neurological, chemical, and hormonal issues and bring them to the threshold of symptomatology.  The following diagnostic tools are used to test for musculoskeletal trauma.

Chemical

Chemical trauma is the dysfunction of communication within parts of the brain and body causing mental and emotional symptoms. An example of chemical trauma is the chronic decrease of dopamine in the brain causing ADHD symptoms. An example of chemical trauma in the body is the decrease of serotonin in the gut from irritable bowel syndrome causing depression.  The following diagnostic tools are used to test for chemical  trauma.

Hormonal

There is an intimate relationship of brain health and hormonal health. If the axis is disturbed there is a negative feedback loop that can result in dysfunction within testosterone, estrogen, cortisol, and many other hormones. This dysfunction can present with autoimmune conditions like Hashimoto's thyroiditis  , graves disease, celiac disease, leaky gut ulcerative colitis,  crohns disease, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, type 1 diabetes, psoriasis, sjogren's, vitiligo, and 140 other conditions classified as autoimmune diseases.  The following diagnostic tools are used to test for hormonal trauma.
